A.P.C.

The creation of Parisian fashion house A.P.C. was something of a happy accident, but one which trend setters everywhere are grateful for. The latest in French fashions are stocked in a few shops in the U.K, and are available online direct from the A.P.C. website. The website is currently showcasing the Spring/Summer 09 collections for men and women, along with the companies Madras and Liberty Lines.

Liberty is a London based fabric company which has produced a range of floral and paisley prints for A.P.C to work their design magic on. The result is a range of women’s clothing and accessories inspired by the 1960′s and what the fashion house call the ‘Haight Ashbury Beat’. Favourite items include a pouch bag in Tatum or Poppy and Daisy designs, and a pretty dress with a crocheted top.

Meanwhile over in the Madras section, there is a mix of interesting prints and understated basics for both men and women. The women’s line includes a cotton dress with three quarter length sleeves in an ikat monkey print, a striped jersey polo shirt, and a swimsuit and bag in the signature madras check. There are also a range of shoes and other accessories. The madras check also features in the collection of men’s shirts, which sits alongside staples such as cotton trousers in navy or tobacco, basic t-shirts, and canvas sneakers from the Nike brand.

Along with these two lines, there’s also the A.P.C. collection which for Spring/Summer 09, draws on a range of influences. 70′s style wide leg jeans form part of the denim collection, and there’s also nautical and 60′s style jackets, and dresses inspired by Russia and painters overalls. The men’s collection features the nautical theme with jackets and boat shoes, a military style shirt, two tone tennis socks, and Boy Scout style shorts. Their basic items include button up and striped t-shirts for men, denim shorts and mini skirts for women and unisex duffle bags for all those weekends away.

All in all, this is a fashion house that seamlessly mixes and matches different products and styles to come up with a cool, understated collection. The website gives endless suggestions for looks you can create with their clothes, and there’s a wide range of bags, ties, hats, belts, eye wear and jewellery to complete your chosen look. If you don’t mind buying direct from France, and a price list in Euro’s, then this could be the ideal place to stock up on some wardrobe essentials.
